It can be (and I mistyped -- that should be NSAppleEventDescriptor). For
example, if you pass an AS object of class data, you can extract the
NSAppleEventDescriptor's data as NSData.

Basically, you can use it to bridge unbridged classes to something useful in
Objective-C.
