Text fields not getting their values if

the field is still in focus.
I've built a test app and I decide to use value bindings instead of outlet bindings.
What happens is, since that field itself does not trigger any action, once the button that triggers the handler is pushed, it does not take the focus to itself and if the focus is in the text field that value does not get read.
Has anyone seen this, is there any workaround, or is there any place I could look for a pointer?
