I'm not sure I know what you mean? If you want the paragraphs (return separated items) of a string as list items, 'paragraphs of' will work just fine...
You could also use text item delimiters, but paragraphs of works fine.
I'm not sure what these 'unwanted results' could be? Unless it's something to do with the data string?

Helpful tip for anyone reads this back from the archives:
Don't use "paragraphs of" with anything other than the list itself. For example do not do:
paragraphs of x to the beginning of theData
This produces probably unwanted results
