Is there a way to get this to work like I'm intending to? I didn't find any examples for this in your book.
If there are any it'd be good to know, if not I'll rewrite my application to work around this (which will probably benefit readability in the end though)

This implies you have an instance of the Dialog class.

This is calling showSheet_ as a class method, so mainWindow will be meaningless.
