Okay, so it looks like Apple now (as of 10.7, it’s been a while since I’d looked at this) has a way to list loaded kexts via kextmanager: https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/mac/documentation/IOKit/Reference/KextManager_header_reference/index.html#//apple_ref/c/func/KextManagerCopyLoadedKextInfo

As a sanity check:

  • To use this, I need to add IOKit to my project
  • It looks like the function I’m interested in, KextManagerCopyLoadedKextInfo() returns a record, and takes two parameters that if I set both to nil, will give me all the info about all currently loaded kernel extensions
Am I reading that correctly?
