What Phil said. Not only can't you do it via GUI scripting, but it's a truly awful idea to use such a fragile method when you can do it in reliable code.
I don't quite follow your post, but if there's other info related to the button, you can get to it directly. If necessary, you can make the sender argument contain a reference to the button, which will be identical to the button being pressed.
