G’day scripters

A question for anyone on this list who is conversant with Swift, so a bit off topic, sorry.

In my Mail attachment processing app, (which comprises 4 separate apps because of ApplescriptObjC size limitations), about 10 seconds per email is taken up waiting for mail to shift each email around and open and close it. Also, saving 3 variable lists to the desktop, and opening and reading those lists from each of the three supplementary apps (which I open and close each time), takes time. As well, saving of data in 5 places, in different formats, adds to the overhead. Actual printing of each attachment only takes about 6-10 seconds.

With all that, we’re only processing a single attachment email in about a minute, + or - 5 seconds.

It’s a bit too slow. So my question(s)…

1. Would re-coding in Swift save much time (just a guess would do)?

2. Is Swift limited in it’s file/program size, as per ApplescriptObjC?

If the answers are yes and no, then I might just have to dive into Swift waters.

Regards

Santa
