G’day scripters
My Application ‘Mail Manager’ is running into problems whilst running 24/7.
After a while, it starts running slow. My clients report it’s using up to 2.4GB of ram. A force quit and restart sees it using only about 50KB.
Is there anything obvious I should look for that could be doing this? Is there anything I can do to stop this?
ATM I’m thinking I might have to write a short script that will Quit & re-start MM by calling the script every hour or so. Bit drastic though. Would rather find a more elegant solution.
In an hour, MM might open and process 100 emails, averaging about 2 artwork attachments each. It might use GraphicConverter (which it quits and re-starts for each printed attachment), Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Word, or Excel. It also creates rtfd files for each email, and saves them in several places. Each graphics application is Quit and restarted every 24 hours, at zero hours universal time.
MM is also a group of 4 Applications, with only the main one (Mail Manager.app), staying open all the time. The others open and close as required. Quitting & restarting the main app takes a while, as it checks many items on startup.
