Looking for advice on 'Mail.app'

G’day folks

Using Sierra Mail 10.12.2, on a late 2014 i7 iMac, and a new i7 iMac, both 27”. Xcode App, using ASObjC.

Situation 1. On the older iMac, saving a Mail Message as an .rtfd, with a predetermined file path as demonstrated by Shane some time ago, ALL emails are saved as .rtfd’s, even those that contain just plain text. They’re saved to the desktop.

Situation 2. EXACTLY the same emails, but with those with just plain text, a dialog box pops up, insisting that .txt must be added to the save name. Two choices are given, save as .rtfd.txt, or save just as .txt. Manually selecting one of these works as it says.

However, in 2. using CODE to save as an .rtfd, as in 1.,  results in a trappable error. Using CODE to choose just the .txt choice freezes the dialog. Choosing .rtfd.txt by CODE, saves the email just as an .rtfd.

EVERY preference has been checked in Mail as the same on both machines, especially the default type of text, Rick Text, or Plain. Both are Rich Text.

Does anyone know of a Preference somewhere that might be affecting this occurring, or is it, as I’m presuming now, differences in the background MacOS install being different for different processors, and adversly affecting the Mail.app on the new iMac?

I’ve lodged a bug, but would appreciate any feedback, no matter how far fetched.

Regards

Santa
