.......................................................................
Hello User Group Leaders,
The User Group Advisory Board (UGAB) and I are excited to let you know
that Rick Ortiz has agreed to join the UGAB, effective immediately.
Rick is a long-time member of the Maui Apple User Society where he has
served as president since 2000. Upon joining the group in 1997 he
worked hard to help them build from 30 members to nearly 200. Rick
works in the non-profit sector in Maui and owns a Multimedia/Mac
consulting business. He combined these talents to create the iKids
program to help provide donated Macs to low-income youth.
A big Apple user group welcome and congratulations to Rick.
Sincerely,
Jeff Mosqueda

1] - Distributing Vendor Offers to Your Members
.......................
The special vendor offers that appear in the Bulletin are a valuable
benefit of user group membership. These offers are for user group
members only, and should not be made available to members of the general
public. User Group Advisory Board vendor relations coordinator Lorene
Romero provides the following guidelines for distributing the Bulletin's
vendor offers to your group's members.
The Members portion of each Bulletin, which includes the special offers,
should be distributed to your group's members each month. Be sure to
include the header that acknowledges the source of the deals and the
qualifications for using them. Your group's Ambassador should archive
the offers and codes for members who request the information.
Offers may be distributed in your print newsletter, sent to your member
mailing list, posted to a password-protected section of your group
website and/or posted to a bulletin board that is restricted to your
members. They should not be posted to a web page or bulletin board with
open access. If your newsletter is freely downloadable, just omit the
codes from the public version.

2] - New Apple User Group Signature Files
.......................
There's a brand new set of signature files for recognized Apple user
groups, complete with the Apple logo and the words "Apple User Group" in
a new font. Have your group's Apple ambassador download the new files
today from Apple Sales Web (part L27741A-US). You should start using
these signature files in place of the old ones for your newsletters, web
sites and collateral. Be sure to follow the usage guidelines that come
along with the signature files.

3] - Digital Hub Presentations in Apple Retail Stores
.......................
Want to show your members how to use iPhoto to make their own cards?
Maybe you want to show them how to burn a CD with their favorite songs
using iTunes. Maybe your members would love to delight their family with
their very own family flick made in iMovie. Not sure how to show them?
Check out the iApps presentations at your local Apple retail store and
theyll show you how so that you can show your group.

4] - Peachpit Press User Group Program
.......................
The Peachpit Press User Group Program has recently been updated and
formalized to make it easier for groups to participate. Registration is
now required, so if you are a UG leader or designated representative for
your UG, please sign up your group at the following link (limit one
registration per group):
http://www.peachpit.com/usergroups/
Be sure to register your group, even if you have previously participated
in the program. Signing up is simple and opens up a wealth of benefits
to your user group, starting with a welcome packet for all new groups.
While Peachpit still maintains a separate User Group program for New
Riders, the new Peachpit User Group program allows your group to enjoy
books from all the other imprints under the Peachpit umbrella including
Macromedia Press, Adobe Press, Avid Press and New Riders. For more
information, contact Susan Nixon at email@hidden.

5] - What Are You Doing With Your Group's .Mac?
.......................
Many of you have taken advantage of the free .Mac account your group's
Apple ambassador can earn for completing the Apple Sales Training Online
.Mac course (available to groups in the US and Canada). We want to know
how you are using that account. Do you use it for your group's home
page? Do you use it for photographs or QuickTime movies of your group's
events? Are you using it for creative group activities we may not have
thought about? Let us know by sending an email to email@hidden.
