.......................................................................
Dear user group leaders,
Starting on Monday morning with the largest User Group University ever
held in on the West Coast, and ending on Friday afternoon with the final
presentation in the User Group Lounge, Macworld Expo in San Francisco
was a week packed with user group activities. All was made possible by
the support and energy of vendors and volunteers.
The 6th User Group University was a smashing success. The day of user
group leader training could not have taken place without the support of
the thirty-seven vendors who provided product and sponsorship money. We
all know these are tough times, but the vendors came through with more
support ever, and they deserve our thanks.
Volunteers make the difference in our successes and MUG events at
Macworld were a HUGE success. Thanks to the scores of user group
volunteers who staffed the Lounge, hosted the Booth, led tours for the
Guides, helped with User Group University, student events and the
MegaMUG meeting, and did the thousand little things that make everything
flow smoothly. Kudos, Volunteers!

1] - Message from Jeff Mosqueda
.......................
Hello, user group leaders. I hope this message finds you all enjoying
life.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the User Group Advisory Board
(UGAB), the College Group Advisory Board (CGAB) and the Regional
Liaisons for all of their hard work over the past few months. In
addition to bringing me up to speed on the user group community, this
awesome group of volunteers was instrumental in pulling off all of the
great user group activities at Macworld including User Group University,
the User Group Lounge and more. Great job, gang!
In the coming year, I will continue to work with these volunteers to
build on the past years' successes in the user group community. Look
for the UGAB to take an active role in helping me with user groups in
everything from the Bulletin to the Locator and more.
I wish you all and your groups the best.
Enjoy!
Jeff Mosqueda

2] - Macaroni: Automated System Maintenance for Mac OS X
.......................
Why should you have to remember to clean up your Mac once a week, or
once a month? Shouldn't a computer be able to remember for you?
Macaroni is a tool which handles regular maintenance for Mac OS X,
including Unix and Mac OS X maintenance tasks, and offers special
scheduling features for Powerbook and iBook users. Normally, these tasks
run on a regular schedule, in the middle of the night. However, if you
don't leave your Mac on all night, they never run. Your Mac won't wake
from sleep to handle this.
Macaroni solves the problem. If a scheduled maintenance task is not run
when it's normally scheduled, Macaroni automatically ensures that it's
run at the next opportunity, whenever the Mac is on.
The normal price of Macaroni is $7.99. MUG users can get a 10% discount
by entering coupon code "CPN082892926" during the checkout process. To
order, go to:
http://www.atomicbird.com/
Offer expires April 15, 2003. * For MUG Members ONLY *

recordings by Shania Twain, Eminem, Nirvana, Nelly, Santana, Faith Hill,
Whitney Houston and Norah Jones. Now Mac users can browse from more than
20 genres and search for their favorite artist, song, or album to create
and save their own playlists. Or let Streamwaves recommend music based
on what they are listening to. Sign up now for instant access to all the
music you want, when you want it.
To take advantage of the exclusive MUG discount of 15% off the regular
Streamwaves monthly, quarterly, and annual subscription plans, go to:
