.......................................................................
Hello User Group Leaders,
I'd like you to join me in giving a big Apple user group thanks to Gail
Murphy, who is leaving the User Group Advisory Board (UGAB) after more
than two years as a top-notch volunteer. In that time, Gail served as
Bulletin editor, regional liaison coordinator, User Group University
content coordinator and much more. I've thoroughly enjoyed the time
I've known and worked with Gail. User groups are better off for having
had her on the board.
I wish Gail all the best in her ongoing professional and personal
development.
Jeff Mosqueda

COMMUNITY NEWS - LEADERS
.......................
As a user group leader you're always on the prowl for great meeting
ideas. Better meetings lead to better attendance and pave the way to a
popular, successful, thriving group. We want to help.
This two-part meeting topic comes from User Group Advisory Board member
Lesa Snyder. (Lesa's got a lot of great meeting ideas, so look for more
to come.)
It's A Wonderful iLife
Part 1: Have one or more members bring digitized vacation, party, or
family photos and their favorite music CD. Bring the photos into iPhoto.
Bring the music into iTunes. Make an iPhoto slideshow complete with
music from iTunes. (Be sure to show how well these applications now work
together in iLife.)
Next, open up iMovie and show how simple it is to work with all three
applications to make an excellent QuickTime movie. Finally, if you have
a Mac with a SuperDrive, make a DVD in iDVD with both the slideshow and
iMovie.
Part 2: Take it to the next level with a .Mac account. Show how easy it
is to share your slide show, and how to make it double as a screen
saver.
For your next trick, turn those photos into a web page using HomePage.
Last but not least, use one of the photos on a custom iCard.
More info on the iLife apps and .Mac, including useful tips and
techniques, can be found at:
http://www.apple.com/iLife
http://www.apple.com/education/iLife
http://www.mac.com
And be sure to check out the resources at the Apple Sales Web, including
an iLife demo script (part number L26503A-US) and slideshows in
QuickTime, Keynote and PDF formats (part number L25457B-US).
Has your group come up with a Great Meeting Topic? Don't keep it a
secret! Send us a brief description (and a link, if available) at
email@hidden. We may feature your idea in a future issue of the
Apple User Group Bulletin.

3] - Still Accepting Regional Liaison Applications and Referrals
.......................
Last month, we let you know that Apple is looking for volunteers to
serve as U.S. Regional Liaisons (RLs). We just wanted to let you know
that we're still taking applications and referrals.
Candidates should have good communication skills, an understanding of
the challenges facing user group leaders and members, and a desire to
be involved in regional and national user group activities.
Regional Liaisons are an important link between individual user groups
and the larger user group community. To learn more about these
positions, visit the Apple Regional Liaison page at
http://www.apple.com/usergroups/contact/liaisons/new.html
To volunteer or to nominate a candidate, send an email to
email@hidden and tell us why you or the person you are
nominating is qualified. Please include the name, title (i.e. vice
president), user group name, user group web site, city, state, and a
brief description of the candidate's recent user group responsibilities.

5] - Macworld Expo Discounts Coming Soon
.......................
Wait! Don't buy that ticket yet.
The User Group Advisory Board is working with IDG World Expo to have
special user group discounts available very soon for July's Macworld
Conference & Expo in New York City.
Registering with the Apple user group discount codes gets you a terrific
deal AND demonstrates the strength and participation of the Apple user
group community. This helps make great things happen for Apple user
groups at Macworld.
