Apple User Group Bulletin - August 15, 2005
...................................................................
Dear User Group Leader,
How often has your group had a question and did not know where to
turn? One of the best resources for any group is the Apple User Group
Regional Liaison team. Chances are that, no matter where your group is
located or what the question is, they either know the answer or know
who to ask.
If you haven't written your Liaison, why not do so today?

Best wishes,
The User Group Advisory Board

1] - MacGroup-Detroit: 19 Years and Going Strong
.......................
MacGroup-Detroit, home of everyone's favorite Adobe Breakfast
presenter and past Board member Terry White, is celebrating 19 years
this month. From WJR interviews, to the Terry's Tip of the Day,
active discussion forums and past meetings in QuickTime or
DVD format, MacGroup-Detroit just gets better every year.
See what they've been up to.

2] - AppleDag: Stichting Klokhuis Sets the Pace
.......................
On September 3, Stichting Klokhuis of the Netherlands will present
their ever-popular AppleDag (Apple Day). Each quarterly AppleDag sees
upwards of 3,000 attendees from multiple countries, who attend
seminars, see exhibitors' newest products and learn about all things
Apple. If you've been there you know why this is a must-see. If you
haven't attended, find out why so many people consider it the best day
of each quarter.
Be there.

3] - Groups in the News: iMug article in the Sydney Morning Herald
......................
Hope Stewart, president of the Melbourne Macintosh User Group, was
interviewed for a piece in the Sydney Morning Herald because her group
is podcasting.
The group's first iMug podcast, recorded at their July general
meeting, featured Marc Edwards, of iSlayer, speaking about Dashboard
and the development of widgets.
Want to hear their podcast? If you're using iTunes 4.9 simply select
"Subscribe to Podcast..." under the "Advanced" menu and enter the

4] - Getting the Word Out: University Groups Attract New Members
......................
One way campus groups build membership is by participating in their
schools' campus day events. The number of students reached and the
opportunities for new members is substantial.
The Western Carolina University Mac Users Group expects to see about
4,000 students at their Valley Ballyhoo, while the Oxford Mac User
Group will be holding their annual Summer Event, a great way to show
potential members how much fun a user group can be. MacWarriors of
Illinois participates in their school's Quad day.
If your campus group needs more members, take a tip from these groups
and see membership grow.

5] - Working With Others: MacCamps Offer Fun, Networking and Tutorials
......................
In Michigan they certainly aren't taking the summer off! The Saginaw
Macintosh Users Group is joining with the Midland Macintosh User Group
in offering a series of two-day training/help/tutorial sessions.
MacCamp is cooperative networking at its best, and while the first
MacCamp was a great success, August 22 and 23 look to be even better.
Make new friends and build new skills.

(Thanks to Ambassador and long-time volunteer Gerald Brasseur for this
tip.)
