Apple User Group Bulletin - January 18, 2005
.....................................................................
Dear User Group Leader,
Happy New Year!
This year started off with a bang in San Francisco. Groups met. Ideas
were traded. Contacts were made and friendships renewed. If you were
there, some of the links below will bring back memories. Of course,
groups have plenty going on at the local level, and some of the
articles below show that it is not necessary to travel far to find
user group fun.
A big user group welcome to those who are subscribing here
for the first time. For you long time readers, welcome back. This year
is going to be the best yet.
Wishing your group well,
The Apple User Group Advisory Board

1] - User Groups at Macworld
.......................
User groups had a full week of events at Macworld Expo in San Francisco,
starting with a Kick-Off Event and continuing through Friday's Lounge
wrap up with Scott Sheppard. In the coming weeks, we'll post some cool,
fun and exciting pictures on the User Group Advisory Board web site.
Check back often to see what went on. You're sure to recognize some
familiar faces from groups around the world.
Got some pictures or .Mac links you'd like to see featured? Send 'em in!

2] - Thank You: Volunteers
.......................
Every Macworld, user group events bring things to do and friends to
meet, but the week does not happen by accident. A big user group thanks
to the planning team members who spent so much of their time to make
the week so memorable. It couldn't have happened without them.
Special thanks to MacTeen's Chris Saribay who created some very
professional looking artwork that helped make the user group booth a
wonderful experience.
Last but not least, over 150 people volunteered on site to make the
week a success.
See the planning team.

3] - Final Cut Pro Guru Gathering
.......................
January 12 saw the largest gathering of FCP Gurus on the planet when
the Final Cut Pro User Group Network (and sponsors) offered a San
Francisco evening of information, raffles and noted speakers. They sure
know how to put on an event.
Check it out.

4] - Working Together: Seeing with iSight
.......................
You may know that members from the Maryland Apple Corps had a
successful across-the-world chat with their president during his visit
to groups in Australia. Did you also know that their treasurer, Merry
Perry, joined Mid-Atlantic Apple/Macintosh User Groups President Dan
East for an iSight broadcast live from Macworld? Dan broadcast with
other groups as well.
If your group has used an iSight in clever ways, let us know.

5] - Thank You: Sponsors
.......................
Sometimes it is easy to overlook the contributions of sponsors, but
you'd be amazed at how generous they are to user groups. Sponsors
provide products for raffle/review, presentations and financial
support. Be sure to thank these companies that helped user groups get
together and spread the word.
