May I add my agreement to David, Doan and Peter. It will be nice to get
to know a little more about Jeff, our new MUG "visionary" for the coming
year/s. Chuck heard this same sentiment when I suggested last week that
as a group we currently lack a connection to "our" leader and that maybe
having Jeff as a guest speaker on the MUG Team chat or the Apple MUG
Leaders chat at World Without Borders would be a good idea. I hope that
Jeff is willing, maybe once the rigmarole of MacWorld preparation and
deployment is over. That would be a grand time to come meet with the
rest of the leaders on this list, especially those who will NOT be
attending User Group University or MacWorld.
A reminder--on the WWBchat--there are Apple Team chats, Apple Leader
chats, a moderated chat with a Mac MUG cognoscenti, and a spanish
language chat Latin MUG (that can often be of use to other MUG leaders
around the world)--these are held once a month. I have found attending
a myriad of these to be so valuable in getting to know the other leaders
in our MUG community. Check out the WWBchat.com calendar or watch for
Chuck to make announcements of upcoming chats. One can also register to
receive a reminder email from Trish Huffman - chat moderator and our
list mom! If I remember correctly, there will be a chat tomorrow
evening at 9 or 10 p.m EST.
Makes one realize that many MUGs are or have gone through some of the
same successes, problems -- and most importantly -- helps in gathering
possibilities that could be of use that one may not have thought of
before. I highly suggest that everyone interested in venues that bring
out ideas that can serve us all, try visiting and making the chats! The
more that attend, the livelier and constructive the ideas! (unless its
a moderated chat, then you have to wait on the queue to ask your "?")
This list is a wonderful means of cooperating and sharing. I look
forward to hearing others views and presenting my own in the coming
year! Let's make it a great one. The best of wishes to those working
to make the MUG presence at MacWorld an helpful and learning opportunity
for all, and to all the user group leaders and volunteers who are
seeking to bring their passion plus the fun and wonderment of the
Macintosh to others. Patience, joy, kindness and love above all to
everyone.
Happy New Year!
Macbeth
