Catherine,
Group Logos are prized items to members of user groups. It will serve as an
visual means of broadcasting your affiliation to others as to your interest
and to catch the eye of others who are unfamiliar with what you do, often
enough for them to ask you "what does that "logo on your shirt" mean?" Thus
"marketing" interest in your user group.
Our group currently does not make these offerings available as "for sale"
items. We have, however, used the logo on all club correspondence, membership
cards and such. We mostly use them as identifiable rewards of club
membership. Past years have seen mouse pads and mugs imprinted with the logo
used as party favours during special anniversary celebrations (10 yr and 15
yr). It's also used them on certificates of appreciation to club volunteers,
and as "one of's" types of t-shirts specifically printed as thank you's to
retiring officers have really contributed significantly.
A few basics that you may want to consider before selling these items:
- your group may need to have a vendor's license in order to sell (varies by
state, some do--few don't)
- if you are incorporated as non-profit org., this would qualify as taxable
income that the group would be held liable for.
Others may will likely have other considerations or ideas as to how to
accomplish what your group wants to offer from their experiences.
