Hi Everyone,
I still have not put 10.2 on my machine yet, but have stopped by CompUSA
several times over the past week and a half to played with this new OS
(guess now for probably 5 hours total so far) and I have to say that I am so
happy with the improvements and am looking forward to having it installed on
my mac when my work schedule permits.
Several things are so exciting about this to me:
1. When you set the finder window to column view it stays on column view!
2. I am so happy, enamored, proud they added back the visual feedback when
closing a window where it zooms back to the folder or drive icon that it
came from. This totally helps me mentally, it reinforces where the files
are being stored, it is far more mac like and brings me tremendous joy to
use this much improved interface.
3. Though a new and improved spinning wheel of rainbow death still exists
and comes on far to often (especially on the dual G4 I was using at CompUSA)
it sure is prettier than the old one and at least the finder is way more
responsive when you want to switch to another application while you are
waiting for the computer to finish.
Also spent some time with one of those new 17" widescreen macs and though
they really look ugly and unattractive in the print media, in person that is
a beautiful computer to use. That extra screen width makes doing stuff
(like having two documents open side by side) much easier. This is a great
computer and I sure hope Apple standardizes that screen soon.
My best,
Randy Marshall
