my ignorance on this, Unix is not in my background.
It's only a trickle now, but the bigger the adoption of OS X becomes,
the more mischief that will rise. >>
Reality check...a long time ago I was told a story that I have told my nieces
and nephews...one about a boy who cried wolf. Most if not all of you might
remember that one.
Why oh why are you jumping on Billy boy's bandwagon?
Fact: UNIX/LINUX are open source.
Fact: They are theorectically open to virus and hacker attack.
Fact: They get no more hacks/viruses than Macs. Why? Because there is no
challenge.
Fact: MicroSoft has been hollering and "warning" people about Open Source
being a problem because of hackers.
Final Fact: Guess who gets hacked the most? MicroSoft.
Yes there will always be some misguided individual who tries to hack and ruin
data regardless of platform. Does that stop those of you with cable modems
from leaving your machines on all the time? People haven't stopped using
Windows (unfortunately IMHO) because of hackers; what makes you think that OS
X is going to be more vulnerable? Just back up. We've been told that for
years. NOW is the time to start doing it. It will be a long time before Apple
has the same type of marketshare that MicroSoft does. Therefore Gates and
company will still be the target of choice for many years to come. Stop
worrying; start migrating!
Similarly there will always be some idiot who drinks too much and then gets
in the car to drive home and miraculously doesn't get into an accident or get
caught. That doesn't stop me from driving. I just drive with more care since
the quantity of idiots is increasing.
