My user group is almost 200 members with about 70 average attending.
Hello David...
I've done sessions at several of the User Group Universities on insurance
for MUGs and why it is so critical. You can download one of the
Powerpoint presos at:

Frankly, if they want those limits, they are letting you off light.
The preso includes some suggestions on things to look for, but here are a
couple general recommendations:
1. Look for an independent insurance agent, not one of the captive agents
(State Farm, Nationwide, etc.). The independents have access to a wider
set of companies and can give you better selection and rates.
2. Look for a regional, rather than a national carrier. The rates and
product are both likely to be better.
3. Make it VERY CLEAR that you are more of a social/educational-type
organization than a computer organization. Too often the underwriters see
the word "computer," think you are a tech company with all kinds of
exotic exposures, and either reject you or give you a price that will
frighten you. Be sure you take the time to explain to the agent exactly
what your organizations functions are (how often, where, what kind of
attendance), etc. That will allow him/her to get you what you need.
If I can answer any other questions, please don't hesitate.
---Chuck
