Hi everyone,
There seems to be a bit of confusion about what the Apple User Group
Advisory Board members do. Since I am on the Board I know how hard each of
these volunteers work. Each one of us has a specific duty, and not only do
we all give to our own MUGs but we give tirelessly to our responsibilities
on the AUAB. I can only explain my role, so here we go...
My role is as the Vendor Relations person. Diane Cohn, the Apple User Group
Program manager who started this Advisory Board, asked if I would like to
take my work for vendors to a national and international level. I was
already working with vendors for my group, The North Coast Mac Group in
Santa Rosa CA.
It sounded fun so I took on the challenge. Each month I work with 4-5
vendors and get specials for User Group members. I have been doing this
monthly since April 2000. Garr posts it in the Apple Bulletin and
distributes them to Leaders. The Regional Liaisons pass them on the their
areas Ambassadors. Chuck makes sure it is distributed to the Editors who are
on the TMC list.
It is important for you, the community leaders, to make sure that the offers
get to your members. It makes them happy, the vendors happy and you look
good.
NCMUG uses a tag line to acknowledge where there offers come from and that
you must be a member of a MUG to qualify. We post them in our newsletter and
on our private member list.
Please feel free to use this line if you would like...
"These User Group discounts are brought to you exclusively by the Apple User
Group Advisory Board. You must be a current MUG member to qualify for these
savings. Not a member? Join a MUG today to take advantage of these offers."
Enough from me for now. I hope this helps people understand that someone on
the Board works to get your members discounts each month, please make sure
they receive them. If you have a great vendor you would like to share with
the community please email me directly and I will gladly hook up with them.
You do not need to make the offer. I can work with them on that issue. This
is all about supporting the community of MUG members.
