Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share some ideas for those visiting MacWorld NY this year for
fun thing to do when in NYC. Sorry I do not have more time to get all the
information together with links and details but most of it is readily
available on the web.
If you are going, I hope this will be the most fun MacWorld ever for you!
My best,
Randy Marshall

1. Go to TV show tapings:
A. Regis and Kelly (you have to be in line at 7 am the day of the show to
get tickets, check the website for details)
B. The Late Show with David Letterman - Very hard to get tickets however if
you go in the morning to the ticket booth and beg you can usually work out
getting a ticket or two for that evening - be nice be pursuasive and have a
partner, they only want couples, single people are usually left out in the
cold. DO NOT TAKE A CAMERA OR PICTURES or they will throw you out. BTW,
David Lettermans Announcer is a really nice person and will sign an
autograph for you after the show if you ask nicely
C. Conan O'Brian - Check website, works much the same as Letterman and the
staff treats you better. Lettermans staff treats everyone poorly, they jerk
you around and its very hard to get tickets to get in. When you are in it
is fun though.
2. Museums-
There is a $34 Museum pass that offers a bunch of Museums and sightseeing
adventures for one price and includes a trip to the top of the empire state
bldg. If you are going to at least three of these places the pass is worth
it.
A. the Gugenheim is awesome! Its only open late one night a week(thurs I
think) and the other Musee is open late on Wed.
MOMA has moved or is about to move temporarily to I think Staton Island City
(in Brooklyn I think) as they renovate.
3. Buy a subway pass and ride it. If you get lost, ask a NYC/NJ person for
help. Yes, they say that these people are rude, but the reality I
experienced is that they are just as nice as southerners so you should have
a wonderful time up there.
4. Take a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge
5. Take a ride on the Staton Island Ferry at sunset (FREE)
6. Give yourself some free time to look around and have fun. NYC is a fun
city to explore, especially Times Square at night.
7. Great place to eat:

Smythe is the President of the Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill's T-MUG. He
recommends this restaurant highly. I have eaten here with him and would
share that this place is very classy and provides a find dining experience
second to none. Try the octopus, its wonderful. Expect to spend at least
$100 per person on dinner. A little less if you forego wine with dinner;
however a great bottle of wine makes the meal!
