Randy,
I agree and something you said reminded me of an exchange I had with Guy
Kawasaki. It concerned the ads Apple was putting out to promote system
8. I thought with all the ads from Intel and MS that Apple needed
something off the wall - so I dreamed up an ad campaign I'd like to see.
I called it the COOL MAC VAN. It centered on three people who think
they are about to be given the keys to a very secret project. Through
locked door, eye and hand scan, decontamination, they walk into a
warehouse with the van alone in the middle. Their mission is to travel
around the country finding all the cool things people are doing with
their Macs. It's tongue and cheek, but the people are real and the
things they do are very real.
Oh and as the last ad of the series, the exhausted crew gets the
obligatory call of congrats. Phase one is now complete. Phase one?
There is a sound of a ship's horn. The crew looks over to see the QE2
with a banner unfurling. THE COOL MAC VAN GOES AROUND THE WORLD.
So how's that for an ad? Would you be interested to see all the wild
things being done with a Mac? What about all those "Macs are graphics
and video, and Windows is everything else."? What would they find?
David
