Hi all
After reviewing what was written earlier this month (yes, it was only ten
days ago, November is a magically short month), I think some, if not all, of
you have come up with valuable points that the BeiMac group could learn.
First, Peter from the AppleCore Berkshire County MUG wrote about his system
of mini-libraries. I've given it a lot of thought and concluded that it was
a good idea and that we could potentially base this set of ideas for
expanding our BeiMac library.
Right now BeiMac has just one Central Library but it is little used, except
in very recent days, when three folks borrowed seven books. There is a CNY
300 (approx. USD 36.25, according to Calculator.app's recent updated ###
conversion) deposit.
I think this concept of "mini-libraries" and a network of that may be
applied to any group - if that fits in with the group in particular. Use
only the methodologies that fit your group well.
I guess BeiMac wants to experiment. ;-)
Still, this "mini-libraries" idea is very qualified and all should see if it
fits in. Don't attempt it blindly - see if it fits with your group first.
Another item is the concept of this expanded library - beyond books,
actually hardware. Right now BeiMac offers only a book library.
Although, and this is a big although, if one MUG has the cash, it can
certain conceptualise a computer library - this goes for those who have
tonnes upon tonnes of Macs and want to let others use it - for, say, web
access.
I know BeiMac's pure availability of a library system makes it pretty unique
in our local community. This is a good idea - this whole library thing - and
it is a concept to be developed upon.
Warm greetings,
Yan Feng
