This is a prime example of what I was expressing in my previous post on
only hearing the good not the bad. I am aware of AACUG's lack of
content for the public. However our member groups, and members have
access to an ever increasing content and benefits and special resources.
At a regional UG leaders conference that I recently attended (put on
by PC groups and sponsored by APCUG in part) I heard raves about the
quality of our publication, and had PC groups asking how they could
join.
Just as we have been discussing the value of UG special pricing and
its worth, we (AACUG) belief that the people paying the bills should be
the ones receiving the benefits resulting from the investment in
resources and tools.
We are striving to do a faster and better job getting the information
out and I realize that not every UG leader knows about us or has
received information on the benefits of membership, but keep your eye
on us, for Rome wasn't built in a day. And we are in this for the long
haul, it just keeps on getting better and better.
A little known fact is that at current levels our National Advisory
Board alone has in excess of 150 years of UG experience. When you have
access to UG leaders that represent UG's in 18 of the most populous
states and two countries besides the US you do have some idea of what
UG's are interested in and what the problems are.
And all of this has been done going totally against the grain. But a
really good big kite rises against the wind, it doesn't bask in a
breeze coming at it. Thanks for your comments, it tells me that we
have more work to do and we should include upgrading the web site as
part of that.
