"THE BEST LITTLE MUG IN TEXAS" IN THE USER GROUP REPORT
The new edition of the User Group Report features Lesa Syner of The
Cowtown MUG of Ft. Worth. Lesa outlines the many projects and
improvements her group is involved in, including an interactive CD,
adopting a local school, an HTML newsletter and more. She talks about how
User Group University gave her ideas to use in her group, how they grew
through publicity, and her Apple tattoo (yes, we said Apple tattoo). The
importance of registering for Macworld Expo using the User Group Priority
Code rounds out this edition.

Hosted by Chuck Joiner, the User Group Report is the series of audio
interviews with people making news in the user group community.

The User Group Advisory Board, in association with Macworld Conference &
Expo, is pleased to announce two very special opportunities for User
Group members to attend Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. For
a limited time, Macintosh User Group members can register for a free

But hurry! The Free Exhibit Hall Pass offer expires on October 28, and
the Conference Package offer expires on December 9. Complete details on
the UG offer are available.
User Group Leaders: IDG/Macworld Expo has been very generous in
supporting Macintosh User Groups and our functions and events, and this
Expo will be no exception. As a way to reciprocate, please consider
placing a link, ad tile or ad banner to the Macworld Expo web page from
your group's site, and/or running an advertisement in your newsletter.

HERSHEY APPLE CORE'S FIRST INTERN COMPLETES PROGRAM
Attracting and involving young people in Macintosh User Groups is a goal
of any group that wants to ensure their relevance and longevity. Groups
around the world are experimenting with different ways to accomplish this
important objective. The Hershey Apple Core implemented a formalized
intern program last year, selecting one young member to participate in
group operations, present at meetings, write for the newsletter and more.
High school student Mark Peffley successfully completed the program and
received a $250 scholarship and letter of recommendation at the September
HAC meeting. The program was deemed so successful that nominations are
now being accepted for a new intern. Read more about the intern program
on the HAC web site.
LEISURE WORLD MUG USES iMOVIES TO PROMOTE GROUP
The Leisure World Macintosh Users Group is added to the list of MUGs
using iMovie and .mac accounts to promote their groups. But they don't
just promote their group - they document many of their meetings and
activities using Apple technology. Who said only the kids are having fun
with iMovie?
iMOVIE OF NORTH COAST MUG'S MAC COMPUTER EXPO ONLINE
Over the weekend, the North Coast Macintosh Users Group held their annual
"Mac Computer Expo" regional event in Santa Rosa. With a vendor faire,
seminars and a keynote by author and Macworld columnist Chris Breen, it
was quite an event. To see some of the highlights, take a look at their
iMovie of the event.
