Firstly, are these PCMCIA analog modems?
I've not tried those but I have had excellent success with USB modems without any special drivers other than the modem scripts.

It's useful to note that the modems used in the PowerBook G3 Series, G3 iMac, Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White), and Power Macintosh G4 (PCI and AGP) were all Conexant modems.

No-one but authorised Apple employees can talk about Panther tho.
