Dear All,
I'm writing to all MUG groups/leaders/fellow listers to try and get
some help/exchange of ideas/support for the local Apple MUG group
here in Athens, Greece.

We have particular concerns about Apple's support for Greek Language
and fonts and currently have some on-line campaigns to raise
awareness of this situation. Also we wish to let the world-wide mac
community hear our concerns and major problems with the main Apple
representative and IMC here in Greece, Rainbow Computers SA.

Although Greece is a small country we have a very active MUG with
almost 1000+ signed up members. HelMug is undergoing some change and
in its 2 year history has so far done a fairly good job but needs to
evolve further and according to Apples guidelines for Mac User Groups.
We have an annual general meeting coming up on the 7th of Dec during
a trade exhibition where elections will be held for 2004. I've been
asked to give a short talk/presentation on how HelMug can evolve and
more specifically interact with Apple itself and other world-wide mug
groups. For this I am researching all the material for MUGS provided
on the Apple web-site and have been lurking on Apple's Aug-D and
Aug-B lists.
Specifically I need help to:
1. Promote the online campaign to raise awerness about Greek
concerns,

2. Find ways to get help directly from Apple because Rainbow SA,
Apple IMC for Greece, gives us zero support and are too limited and
narrow visioned to allow the Mac market to grow.
3. Find ways to interact with international MUGS and learn from them
how to get support from Apple and Mac Developers.
4. Exchange links with international MUGS and get some material that
can be used to organize more structured HelMug meetings with workshops
I'm just starting this project but look forward to collaborating with
you all in the future.
Please note that I am not standing for any Elections during the
coming HelMug meeting. At the moment I am a visiting research
scientist at the University of Athens, Dept. Cell Biol and
Biophysics, however, I will be spending more time back in the UK to
take up a post-doctoral fellowship (Bioinformatics/Protein
Engineering/Enzymology) back in my home department of Biochemistry,
Univeristy of Cambridge and St Johns College Cambridge. Some of you I
guess know me from lmug's list so watch out for me at your meetings
when I'm back in the UK.
