I agree Richard, one size does not fit all. Every group has to know its
own territory and its resellers. This program is just one small step for
MUG; it is not the end-all, be-all, warm up to the Comp folks fix. Some
stores just don't believe that they want or need the business and that is
a shame.
The idea is a simple one and I hope this is helpful in getting the gist
of what I was saying; sometimes it isn't what any reseller can do for a
user group, but what the user group can do for the reseller. In some
cases, CompUSAs have responded well. Some have ASC ("badged" Apple staff
"Apple Solutions Consultants") on site in their Apple department.
If you are having a particular issue with one store, you can contact
their national customer service. Mac, PC or whatever -- no one should
have poor customer service from any retailer in this day and age. That's
my 2" and I'd be happy to help further if I can. Reseller relations is a
very hot topic right now and I hear both sides of the pendulum.
There are some great resellers out there that would love to have your
business, regardless of geography. If I can help with that, please feel
free to reach me "offlist."
Enjoy the holidays!
Cheers,
d
