Guys, times are tough for all of us, especially Apple. They are not
only facing the rough economic conditions faced by many businesses, but
a spiraling downturn of the technology sector as well. Cost saving
measures are being implemented, and whether you like it or not...it
will stay that way for the immediate future. It is possible however,
that if things get better that Apple Mailbox will become free again for
us. Keep that in mind.
Remember, Apple Mailbox is a privilege that was given to Apple User
Groups because it is a valuable resource. And it still is today.
However; Apple cannot swallow the cost anymore, especially for those
groups that don't even use the mailbox. Instead, they impose a fee, a
light one I might add, that would allow those who really deem the
Mailbox valuable, a chance to grab it. 8 Bucks (I think that is the
cost) is perfectly reasonable. Feb.'s disc contains Keynote if I'm not
mistaken. Well, let's think about this just for a moment. A $100+ app
on DVD for 8 bucks. A few months back Jaguar, then Jaguar server
edition were included. A lot of great software, expensive software, the
Apple gave out freely to us. Well, now there's a small charge. Frankly,
I still see this as a privilege. Which would you rather swallow? $100+
or $8?
I'd take the $8, thanks. That's why I'm proudly buying the discs and
supporting Apple by doing so. I think it is time to stop complaining
about it and just be happy we have access to these great tools.
