Subject: Calling Out For Help For A Rochester MUG.
I currently am a student at Rochester Institute of Technology located
in Rochester, NY. As a freshman I have become a prominent figure in
MacRIT, our mac user group on campus. I was elected Vice President
fall quarter, but due to difficulties with the president have never
been able to do much for the group. Our president is now on co-op
(Basically an internship) and is currently at home in Pennsylvania.
This leaves me as the acting president, taking responsibility for a
large amount of duties.
Sounds like you have been elected to a new position. Congratulations.
I want to expand the club and to make it more
interesting. I would like to bring in a number of guest speakers and
vendors, hopefully people that would do it to help out the group as a
whole rather than the need for a cash benefit. Does anyone have any
advice or contacts that they could give me.
Here is a list of participating vendors that have contact information
for you to request a presenter.

Is there anyone among this Discussion Forum that would like to
present something to us or share some knowledge?
We meet on campus every Tuesday night from 8-10pm.
Our first meeting this quarter will be on March 11th.
Our last meeting is May 12th.
There are several groups in the Upstate, NY area.
SMUG (Syracuse), MacRIT(Rochester), CU-MUG (Cornell, Ithaca), FinMUG
(Finger Lakes), MUG ONE (Oneonta), CorningMUG (Corning). I'm not sure
about the Buffalo area. However, The Apple Store at Walden Galleria is
there.
Send me a message via iChat or AIM. I may be able to help your group at
one of the meetings.
Subject: What's missing in your OS?
Good morning everyone,
As most of you know I work daily with vendors. One asked a favor of you
(vendor name does not matter), they would like to know what the MUG
people
feel are missing from the apps world.
Is there anything you, as a Mac user, would love to see produced? What
seems to be missing?
Please post your thoughts, you could make a difference -Lorene
1. Dare I say it? QuarkXPress for OS X.
2. Software (or Hardware) RIP with support for MacOS X and Large Format
Inkjet Printers (particularly Kodak's Encad inkjet printers.)
Apparently there is only one company that I know of that was acquired
by EFI that supports Mac OS X.

3. There are many sophisticated multiplayer games that are developed
and made available to PC users. Some do not get ported to the Mac at
all, and the ones that do take 8-16 months maybe longer. I would like
to see simultaneous releases of PC and Mac Gaming titles. Games that
are in being ported to the mac that PC users already have are; Unreal
Tournament 2003, Unreal 2, Neverwinter Nights, and Medal of Honor:
Spearhead to name a few. One Game I know of that will never hit our
platform is Battlefield 1942.
I hope this helps.
