Hi:
I ordered KeyNote the same day it was announced and had it in time to use it
for our January 22nd MUG meeting. I had to work fast, but I found it quite
intuitive. I'm sure there are many features still to be discovered, but it
certainly did the job for our meeting. One of the features I really liked was
the way it defaults to helping you align text blocks and other graphic
elements consistently from one slide to the next, while still permitting you
to vary if you really need to.
The various transition effects are awesome, and of course one needs to
exercise discretion in their use or else the whole presentation gets to be a
bit psychadelic. But the effects are well beyond anything PP can do in
Windows.
I noted that KeyNote can export to pdf, QuickTime, or PP but I have to admit
that I have not put any of these features to the test yet.
The only down side I can report is the fact that, while preparing my KeyNote
presentation, I had what I think may have been my first even total lockup of
my iBook under OS X Jaguar. As a result, I eventually had to disconnect the AC
power and pull the battery in order to Restart. I lost about 5 slides because
I had not Saved the file. From then on, I tended to Save after each new slide
was created, but I have never had any further cases of lockups or even
application crashes. I cannot be certain that the lockup was due to KeyNote.
Although KeyNote was open, the lockup occurred just as I was also launching a
PowerPoint file from which I wanted to Copy & Paste a graphic out of a PP file
into my KeyNote file. Maybe the two competitors caught wind of each other and
started duking it out for resources!!
Hope this helps .. and that you get more reports from others.
