I have never in my life had such wonderful tech support customer service
as today!
I mean, I've had major excellent service by several companies (Apple,
Epson to name a few; my first PC--Packard Bell was THE worst! I swear
that if the computer saw a full week of use time in the whole year
before I got my Mac, it was too much) but NEVER in me life have I had a
problem taken care of in such a miniscule amount of time (less than two
minutes) and without me having to provide anything beyond my name and
address to see an immediate shipment of a replacement item! The item is
due to arrive on Wednesday at the latest, so I still have time to have a
bad experience if it doesn't turn up...but this was absolutely glorious
to begin with!!
My daughters TI-83 Plus died in the midst of finals this week.
Thankfully the teacher is able to have spares in the class and she could
borrow. It is still under the one year warranty but no matter! Texas
Instruments didn't ask for anything beyond the "okay, here's what you
need to do..." When I recounted that the call was the last bastion of
assistance as I had visited the website, looked through all of the
support documents, followed all directions already to reset, remove,
redo...what ever!, the support guy simply asked for my name, address and
phone to send me an immediate replacement with instructions on what to
do to return the defective unit AFTERWARDS of receipt!
I wasn't asked anything else...No serial number, no warranty
information, nothing! I mean, I could have been making it all up! and
before anyone gets skeptical...we purchased the calculator back in aug.
of 2002 but never at any point registered it with TI after the purchase
so they couldn't have had prior information, plus we have caller
blocking...at least I think we do.
All I can say is that many companies out there can learn from this. Of
course...they can also lose some big items that way as well. On our
behalf, this was just flabbergastingly great!
At least it will be until Tuesday, and then well see!
