We are a community user group of about 50 to 100 members. We are
located in Canada, where of course the civil law system is different
than in the U.S. Canada is also (or possibly as a result) a less
litigious society than the U.S.
Bottom line is that our group has operated for some 15 years without
being incorporated and without any form of insurance of any kind. I
realize this may be somewhat foolhardy, but I figured I would admit it
here just to see if some other groups in the same situation want to
come out of the closet!
I think the reasons for our failure to incorporate or insure and mainly
lack of personnel to take on the job plus a feeling that we might not
be able to afford it. Also the fact that our club seems to teeter each
year on the brink of dissolving for lack of new volunteer Executives
anyway.

We just got our quote for Directors and Officers liability insurance

about hit the floor. It was almost $2000. Before I fork over a large

1. Do you carry such insurance? If so, how big is your group and about
what
do you pay?
2. Are you aware of any insurance companies either specializing in or
at
least catering to non profits at a reasonable price?
