Since the time that Apple opened the online Apple Store, Apple has made
it quite clear, on numerous occasions, that MUG's are no longer
authorized to distributed *any* Apple copyrighted software, even if that
software is available as a free download from the Apple Web site. Since
the advent of the online Apple Store, Apple has insisted that all updates
must be acquired by users directly from Apple.
Quite a number of MUG's have requested that they be allowed to enter into
an agreement with Apple to distribute, at the minimum, free downloadable
updates that are too large for some of their members to download via
modem, and/or to be able to gather together the most recent updates to
burn onto a CD-ROM for members-only. Apple has steadfastly refused to
allow this in every case that I know of.
It would be nice to know what has made the difference for the ShareTheMac
Users Group. (Assuming that they actually do have an agreement to
legally distribute Apple software updates. Considering their Spam e-mail
campaign to sell their CD's, it has occurred to myself and others that
they may be distributing Apple software without permission. That is,
illegally. If that is the case, it would be nice to verify that too.)

Claiming that the Macintosh is inferior to Windows because most people
use Windows, is like saying that all other restaurants serve food that is
inferior to McDonalds'.
