Hi Trish:
Our group met for many years in a high school lecture theatre which
offered no audio-visual or internet resources at all. We brought our
own projector but were never able to make internet work there.
Within the past year, we relocated our meetings to a Church which
offered us the use of their audio-visual system, the use of their DSL
internet feed, the use of a storage room in their building to leave all
the meeting material stuff that we used to have to lug in and out from
and to our cars, and an offer to also allow us to use one or two extra
breakout rooms as well as the main meeting room, all for an
exceptionally reasonable price.
The ONLY problem with this new arrangement is that the meeting location
is now well east of the centre of the community or region which we
purport to serve. It has resulted in many people from the western side
of our old region no longer coming to the meetings. In the coming year,
we obviously need to allocate some resources to winning back those
people as well as promoting the club to the people who now find
themselves living much closer to our meeting site.
We are paying, I think, $85.00 Cdn. per night for the use of these
facilities, which is a deal when you consider that the audio visual
facilities include not only a projector which shoots toward a screen at
the front of the room but also a second projector which shoots at the
rear wall of the room, so the speaker can always see what the audience
is seeing without having to look at his computer or turn his head!!

Hello!
I know this is the time of year that many MUGs regroup, reorganize,
rewrite,
re-elect, etc. But...what I really want to know from you involves your
choice of meeting places since I suppose some of you will have to
re-lease.
Do you lease, rent, meet in a place that is free? Do you have internet
access? Access to a sound system? Projection and screen? Realizing that
needs differ from group to group, how do you go about choosing a
meeting
place that suits both the group as a whole as well as the majority of
individual members?
Thanks for your responses.
Have a fun weekend!
