Does your group charge dues for membership? How much do you charge?
Coastal Mac User Group in Myrtle Beach, SC charges $24 a year. For new
members during the year, we charge $2 for each month threw December. Family
membership is $24 a year so husband and wife get in for one membership.

What benefits do dues-paying members receive?
Dues pays for the web site and domain name and the November banquet (chuckle,
chuckle). Someday it will pay for a projector. We also give the library that
we meet in a special gift. They don't charge us for meeting space. One year we
had the rug in the meeting room cleaned, another year we gave them a scanner
and other years Genealogy software.

- Are there different membership levels with different benefits?
See Dues above. There is also those people who come in to meetings who think
they have already paid (and haven't). All are welcome.

articles in our website.

Any other insights or wisdom on the issue of dues is much appreciated.
Asking for dues indicates that you are giving a value from your membership.
If you didn't charge something, people would come and go as they please.
