With many DV camcorders (and I made this mistake, myself), you can avoid
the shut down by making sure that you don't have a cassette in it when
you make it your web cam.
Also, if you do use a DV as your web cam, you can also stream anything
(video and/or digital stills - some Sonys) coming out of the camera.
Great to hear more groups getting into ICAV!
