I think we gladly WOULD offer this service but haven't ever thought to
publicize it. As a result, what happens is that we often lose the
member due to relocation before we ever have an opportunity to get
involved. Sometimes the member just "disappears" by virtue of not
renewing their membership, but sometimes we get responses to regular
meeting notice emails telling us that they have moved.
We are about to do an update to our MUG web site wherein we will have
a tab called something like "Member Services", and this sounds like a
good item to be included even if it is not something often requested.
The "Member Services" concept is an attempt to combat what is often,
and understandably, leading members to question exactly what it is
that the MUG offers them for their annual renewal fees which isn't
also being offered to the general public who pay no fees. This is
sometimes difficult to answer verbally on short notice, so we are
hoping that the web site version of "Member Services" will eventually
be not only a place where we can refer people but a resource for our
Executives so they CAN answer this question better when asked.
