Have you tried public access TV or local talk radio? I know our cable service
has to have some type of programs available about local events. In our area
there is a program that a lady for the past upteen years has been interviewing
people about things happening in the area. Your local radio may also have a
radio call in show that you can tell people about your event. Both are at no
cost to your group.
Another suggestion would be to provide a table for other groups in the area.
That way the XYZ MUG may have a group of 4 people at their card table telling
people about their group. That brings their membership and interested people
in XYZ's area to your event. XYZ MUG can pass out pamphlets much like the area
at Macworld where there are 5 or 6 groups telling people about their group.
Cost zipo!
