May I remind everyone that Apple Retail will only do what Apple Retail thinks is necessary to make (Apple) Retail sales.

If that means to invite Mac User Group Members (the faithful) to a "special event" where they can have a local reporter and cameraman show up to do a "news story" for the local paper or for television showing a strong local support for their product - they will do it.

If a new store moves in an foot traffic is lighter than marketing estimates, then the store may make more overtures to the (already) mac faithful <this has been my experience>. If however, the store is successful and business is worthwhile and sustainable - then MUG activities are red-lighted and pushed away (politely).

My point. If there is a good Retail reason (or a special relationship with the management) then you'll be "working with the local store". But if Apple Retail feels fine without you - then you're just another customer.

Might be a bit premature as we haven't been there yet but the Apple Store, Regent Street, London, UK is holding a special presentation evening for MUGs this Friday 10th Dec.
