Hello!
Sorry to post this message all over again, but I would like to try to
describe what happened on December 1st in Bucharest, Romania. I think
that
being the first event of its kind in Romania it should be mentioned
here and
maybe wherever you may forward it. Thank you very much if you do that!
Even though December 1st was a cold day, the Romanian Macintosh User
Group
members (http://www.AppleNet.ro) have gathered and celebrated their
recently
international recognition status and also their first ever official
meeting.
Despite the cold weather outside, the nice Crowne Plaza Hotel was a
warm
place for such a friendly meeting.
After a hot coffee or tea, we had the pleasure to meet each other, to
explain how exactly this user group can improve every member's life
and how
everyone could receive or give help through MUGR. The benefits of
being a
proud member of such a group were also presented to those who attended
the
opening. A lot of questions were asked and the right answers were
given, as
we hope, then everyone stood up and had the opportunity of being shown
some
nice and attractive computers by
courtesy of AppleNet. The first, which we use to call "The new
<<Ferrari>>
from Apple", a beautiful iMacG5; second, a powerful Dual G5, boosted by
world's most advanced operating system, Mac OS X "Panther" 10.3.6;
third, an
elegant, yet powerful PowerBook 17" model.
Another nice moment of the meeting was, of course, the raffle by which
Mr.
Sorin Paliga won a beautiful "AirPort Express with AirTunes" station,
exclusively offered by IRIS SA (Apple IMC Romania) to the Romanian
Macintosh
User Group for this event! We are convinced that Sorin Paliga will
greatly
enjoy his AirPort station along with his owned Apple's products, and
we also
want to thanks IRIS SA for their kind gesture. Last, but not least, the
winner of this raffle was randomly chosen by the youngest member of our
community, a little girl who proved to be much more smarter than a PC
user
at her age. :))
Then it was a time for a exquisite meal and some delicious cakes! Well,
that was it. Our thanks go to those who attended the meeting, we truly
hope
they enjoyed this kind of party. We already look forward to the next
meeting
since we have a lot of nice and valuable presence and knowledge to
share
within Macintosh User Group Romania with our members and with new
friends!
Photos from this event can be viewed at

Best regards,

Hi Art,
Good to hear from you. There is a Kick-Off event instead of UGU on tap
for
San Francisco (advertised in the last few User Group Bulletins and
QuickBytes);
unfortunately it sold out a while ago.
Still, there will be lots of good things going on at Macworld for user
groups. If you keep an eye on two pages:
Apple's information at
http://www.apple.com/usergroups/mwsf05/
Advisory Board's information at
http://homepage.mac.com/ugab/news.html
You will be pretty up-to-date on what we are planning for the Lounge,
Booth,
Guides and events.
In fact, we might add a special user group trip to the local Apple
store this
time. (Not all events will be listed on the MugCenter as it is not
part of
the Apple User Group program, but a private web site.)
Hope to see you there!

Hi Art,
Are you the Ambassador of your group? We have sent out an announcement
in
the UG Bulletin and in Apple QuickBytes regarding our upcoming event.
It is
not UGU but a very fun Vendor Reception.
Here is the blurb from the November 16th bulletin
Oh and check out the User Group Advisory Boards new website at

Is there a User Group University for Macworld SF 2005?
I am hoping that my User Group will help absorb some (or ALL) of the
registration fee and it makes it easier if the more stubborn members
of the
Board of Directors can see a list of topics that will benefit our
User Group
in the long run.
Anyone have any info on UGU 2005?
