TidBITS USER GROUP PROGRAM DELIVERS THREE NEW TAKE CONTROL BOOKS FOR MUG
MEETINGS
Adam Engst of TidBITS and his team of Take Control authors have been busy
creating more in their series of electronic books. Any or all can be used
as the basis for a terrific, informative meeting for your user group.
What group wouldn't benefit from a tutorial on effecive backup strategies
and methods? Digital cameras change faster than computer hardware, so a
primer on what to buy is always interesting. And who doesn't want to know
more about Apple's coolest software, GarageBand?

ADOBE USER GROUP BREAKFAST AT MACWORLD WOLD OUT...ALMOST
If you have been trying to register for the Adobe User Group Breakfast at
Macworld Conference & Expo in the last few days, you may have gotten the
message that the event is sold out. We've been asked to announce that,
while the event is at capacity, there are going to be a *very* few seats
made available today. If you want to attend but haven't signed up yet,
try your luck now. When these seats are gone, however, that's the end. A
wait list will be started on-site on the morning of the breakfast, but
there is no guarantee that there will be room, so your best bet is to
sign up now.

ROMANIAN MACINTOSH USER GROUP CELEBRATION PHOTOS ONLINE
The Romanian Macintosh Users Group recently celebrated both their status
as an Apple-recognized user group as well as their first physical
meeting. Ambassador Sebastian Cochinescu reports that the event, held at
the Crowne Plaza Hotel, included discussions of how participation in a
user group can benefit users, a showcase of an iMac G5, a G5 tower and an
17" PowerBook.

USER GROUP SURVEY: COMMUNITY SERVICE QUESTION AND LEADERSHIP
COMMUNICATION ANSWERS
This week's MUG Center Survey question is about how your group is
involved in your community. Many user groups do more than just serve
their members; they participate in community and charity projects, both
at the holidays and throughout the year. This week, we ask: What
community activities or charity projects does your group participate in,
either during the holidays or throughout the year? Last week we asked you
to tell us how the leadership of your group communicates. The two most
popular options were private email communications and in-person monthly
meetings, with quarterly meetings and telephone conference calls a
distant third and fourth.

TWO USER GROUPS ANNOUNCE WEB SITE REDESIGNS
New York City's MetroMac has a new look thanks to the efforts of Marc
Silverman and Robert Yasharian. Their new online home is an even better
framework for their forums and web-based newsletter. You can catch up
with MetroMac in person at their bimonthly meetings at the SoHo Apple
Store. The online user group MacMentor has updated their site, based on
the popular geeklog software. Anyone can join and contribute stories to
the site to help improve it and build the group.
