Hi:
Just wanted to say 'thanks' to Chuck and all the folks who contributed
UGU seminar resource materials to the MUG Center site.
I was unable to attend UGU myself due to a little medical condition
that kept me at home, but thanks to the fact that so much resource
material has been made available I feel that our MUG is still going to
realize a lot of value. I feel so strongly about the value of this
material that I have burned a CD-ROM version of all these materials for
EACH of our MUG Executives and will be presenting same to them at our
next Executive Meeting. And threatening a Quiz at the following month's
Exec Mtg.
As an example, our MUG has two fresh Executive volunteers who have
committed to taking over the process of establishing our meeting
presentation agenda for the year. This is certainly a load off my
shoulders, but I think our guys as well as the rest of the Executive
will get a lot out of Doan's presentation on setting your meeting
topics up to a year in advance. The timing could not have been better.
One suggestion for future UGU seminar audio files: The files I have
listened to so far fail to pick up questions from the audience. I know
it is very difficult to get people to wait until a microphone can be
passed to them, and it is also hard for the speaker to always remember
to repeat the question, especially if he or she knows that the live
audience heard the question OK. So my suggestion would be that at each
seminar there be an assistant to the main speaker who is set up with a
microphone that is being recorded but not fed to the PA system. That
person, like a Court Reporter, would be in charge of recording
questions onto the tape, something like a simultaneous translator at
the United Nations!!
Thanks again, all, for helping to bring UGU to those of us who weren't
able to make it.
