I know that years ago there were papers written by long-time leaders. (I
seem to recall that one was written by the amazing Len Wines.) It was for
Apple, long before the MUG Center and it was given to Apple to help, so
they'd be at the Apple site. Here's where I am guessing you'd search for
them. I don't see the but did not look deeply.

Then clicking Help is here for UserGroups takes you to;

There is a list of topics, then things under each.
If you find things that help, now with OS X you can PDF them, of course. I
love that feature!
