I have no intention or interest in promoting any "snarkiness" but feel
there is more to discuss here. When Fred said this last,

I wondered whether he and others have shared my own experience and/or
have thoughts on what to do about it.
First let me say that I hate spam, and forward it to my ISP's filtering
address and to the FTC with hopes that they may be able to take action
against the perpetrators. (However I also fret about the fact that I am
increasing the burden on the net by sending each piece of junk I
receive back out to two more addresses.)
Now the other side: I also find that a few of the MUG-related messages
I send out to my group's members get rejected by spam traps of one sort
or another too. Not many, but fairly consistently a few. The worst was
a recent run-in with sorbs.net, but I also have occasional trouble with
AOL members who only allow mail from e-mail addresses they have
specifically approved, etc. (Then there are occasional people with
mailboxes perpetually full and unreachable, but that's another issue
altogether even if it may be spam related.) The end result for me, if I
am unable to reach the person by other means, is to mark the address as
bad and take it off my list. They no longer get the announcements which
I feel are important to my UG's members - sometimes not at all in the
case of highly time-critical info, other times maybe not until the next
printed monthly newsletter.
