I did meet the store manager, found out that he had paid for the refreshments, and entered into a very positive dialog. He offered us the use of one of his class rooms for meetings

This mirrors my experience exactly (sorry for the "me too" post;-)). But we get a lot more support from C'USA then from the Apple Store. These people are in Biz to make money but it's nice to meet folks who are into the community of users and offer encouragement. I have been shunned from the Apple store twice for my efforts and I'm as low keyed as you can get. They have absolutely no interest in MUGs. Although I gave out a few fliers surreptitiously to employees on my way out the door (I was solicited by the individuals).
