Greetings...
Trish asked:
> Who among us has given a thought to attending
> Macworld Boston in July?
My reservations are made.
Trish asked:
> What do you hope to see
A) All of my user group friends.
I've been unable to go to San Fran the past couple of years
because my teaching position at JMU started requiring I be
present at the start of the January semester.
(Rather than postponing the class long enough to attend!)
B) Anything and everything at Macworld
C) Apple (Rremember? Apple makes computers too!)
Trish asked:
> What do you hope will be offered for MUG members?
* The traditional MUG fare.
* Expanded "no-charge" workshops and sessions for
user group members.
* Compelling, detailed, motivation to actively encourage their
groups help their communities overcome the "Digital Divide"
* Compelling, detailed, motivation to actively encourage their
groups to help educate their communities about online crime,
spam, identity theft
I agree with Jim on the "meeting in a box" concept...
but also, some expanded access information for the facility
and surrounding hotels, restaurants, etc.
(For instance, make sure you check JetBlue for the best
rates on flights. I saw a Dulles > Boston flight
for $69. You can't hardly complain about that... less
than the hotel room!)
Finally... I urge all User Group officers and members
to hit the streets and drum up excitement over MWX/Boston.
We all know that an East Coast Macworld is essential to
the many, many people who cannot attend the January event,
as well as the importance of a "mid year" event in the
world of Apple and Macintosh.
Even if you can't go yourself... urge someone else to.
Contact all the vendors in your database and ask
if THEY are going. Stir up some excitement.
:-)
