In my work with my MUG, I have never done anything with graphics that
I couldn't do with GraphicConverter. I don't claim to be an artist,
but I do a lot of digital photography and use GraphicConverter for
almost all the photo stuff. I have Elements, but have hardly ever
used it. GraphicConverter was $25 when I bought it, and when I have a
problem, Thorsten sends me a new beta with a fix. Usually the next
day! In 5 years, I've paid one $10 upgrade fee.
I'll never tell anyone GC will do everything PhotoShop will do. But
it will do everything I need done easier than PhotoShop.

You are right, GraphicConverter is a great bargain at what ever the shareware fee is now. For many of my CMUGers it can do everything they would ever need. No need to confuse them with the higher end products. For those who need a step up, Elements is a great program. PhotoShop has been the standard since the days of Digital Darkroom. I am sure that even the pros don't use half of the features available. It is nice to have the choice. Once all we had was Macpaint and Macdraw and 72dpi output. We were all amazed. Now with scanners and digital cameras we can do so much more and the software keeps pace with the hardware and the newer more powerful systems.
