I think that Vendor Offers are pretty important to MUG members and to the
vendors who offer them. Over here in Australia there has been a problem for
years where members of many groups weren't being informed. When I asked
their leaders the reason given was that it is just too hard to access the
codes.
As I've posted here before, I've set up the MUG Mentor Team (comprising of
leaders representing each state) and one of their jobs was to distribute
these offers to the other groups within their state. This month was going to
be the fourth month in a row that I've passed on this info in the MUG Mentor
Team Report.
In the past Chuck included these offers in the TMC Newslist which meant all
I had to do was copy the international offers to the MUG Mentor Team Report
and pass it on. I'd been waiting to get this months listing but so far it
hasn't appeared.
Tonight I went to the MUG Center site and found this months list on the
site. However this now requires you to send emails to get discount codes
either to Chuck or our Regional Liaison depending on the source of the
offer. This seems to be a major step backwards to me. Does anyone know if
these offers are going to be continued in the newsletter or not?
I can no longer just copy and paste this info and under the current scheme
it will be impossible for me to pass on these offers to the other Australian
groups. Our Regional Liaison doesn't work with us because we aren't a
recognized MUG. He has declined to join our mailing list or to become a
member of the MUG Mentor Team so we aren't going to get any codes from him.
Chuck has always been helpful but if you have to send emails to receive each
discount code rather than just copy them from a single email its just going
to be too much extra work.
After writing an article to this list a few weeks ago to highlight the good
work we were doing in getting the word out to each Australian MUG with these
Vendor Offers it is very disappointing if we can no longer access them.
Could whoever made this decision please reconsider and bring back these
offers to the TMC Newslist.
