We've had mixed results with our three area stores.
The PGA store has been fabulous. The Ass't Manager even came to our club meeting to help with the Tiger rollout. See June http://pbmug.org/content/nextEvent.html#June2005 - PBMUG - The Next Event
The Wellington Greens is cordial ... but cool.
The Boca Raton store has an invisible manager. Although I hear unconfirmed reports from reliable (but unattributable sources) that he/she is a swell individual.
I guess the point is, "Ask not what your Apple store can do for you, but what you can do for your store."
What have you done to support them? Do you send your members to them to buy their Apple products and vendor software? Have you asked if you could do a "field trip" and bring all your members to one of their training sessions?
Its a business, you know. If you show them that you are there to support them you might find a more receptive Manager that doesn't use Smurfs to run interference for them.
I once was in retail management. Trust me, your time is precious. You work 40 - 60 hours a week. Use the plan-o-gram ... train your people ... hire and fire ... read (file) the company reports ... there often isn't enough time in a day for glad-handing visitors.
My Mom always said, "If you want a friend, be a friend."
So, go and be a friend and see what happens.

Anyone have suggestions on how to get by smurfs preventing access to
store manager?
I dropped by to introduce myself and ask what they could do for our user
group. One smurf refered me to a blonde smurf (no title on id badge) who
stated, "you have to call Apple". Of course after a trip of 40 miles i
wasn't to happy at the brush off. I'll try again but, it looks grim. May
have to close down user group in Oklahoma City permanently.
So, does anyone have the smurf evader code?
